Using real life examples and internet research this course looks at key characteristics of financial assets and delves into financial liabilities. The impact of interest and the time value of money will be a particular focus.
The learning outcomes are:
- Review of key characteristics of common financial assets – bank accounts, savings, pension plans, trust funds – such as potential return, access to funds and level of government protection
- Review of key characteristics of common financial liabilities – unsecured and secured loans, buying on credit, vendor financing, payday vs personal loans – such as likely interest levels, lender requirements and interests
- Appreciate why it’s easier to get into debt than to multiply your savings
- Understand how financial leverage can boost your bottom line
